City Owl Press has held an Auction for Ukraine with authors and editors from the organization donating signed books, editorial critiques, art items, amazing experiences, and more to help raise funds for Ukrainian aid. The auction was a huge success with $4350 being collected by winning bidders as well as added donations by generous benefactors. The funds were donated to the following organizations: National Bank of Ukraine’s Fund and United Help Ukraine.
As our co-founder, Yelena Casale, is Ukraine-born, we asked if she would share a special message. Her words follow below.
A Message from Our Co-Founder
“Ukraine will always own a big part of my heart. I was born there and grew up there until I was 13, in the capital Kyiv. It is an absolutely beautiful city and country, with centuries of history. But what this war demonstrated to the whole world is that the people of Ukraine are courageous, resilient, and special. As this evil war has reached its first month mark, the people of Ukraine continue to suffer. Families are being displaced from their homes, shellings are non-stop, wives are separated from their husbands, children are murdered.
The support that you all showed in the past month, and especially with this auction and your donations have completely floored me and filled my heart with so much love, gratitude, and hope! We will continue to support the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom from the Russian occupation and this is going to help tremendously. To each and every one of you, thank you from the bottom of my heart! You are all amazing.”
