At City Owl Press, we believe that storytelling and creative expression are fundamentally human endeavors. We are committed to supporting authors, artists, editors, designers, narrators, and other creative professionals whose talent and originality make our books possible.

City Owl Press does not accept or knowingly publish books that have been generated by artificial intelligence.

All manuscripts submitted to City Owl Press are expected to be the original work of the author. While authors may use standard writing tools and software during the creative process, submitted works must represent the author's own creative expression and authorship.

If we determine that a manuscript has been substantially generated by artificial intelligence or has been misrepresented as human-authored, we reserve the right to reject, withdraw, or terminate consideration of the work.

NO AI TRAINING: Without in any way limiting the author’s [and publisher’s] exclusive rights under copyright, any use of a City Owl Press publication to “train” generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to generate text is expressly prohibited without written consent from the publisher and the author.

Artwork and Visual Content

City Owl Press does not knowingly commission, purchase, or publish AI-generated artwork for book covers, promotional materials, or other creative assets where original human-created work is expected.

We work with artists and designers who create original work and who agree to comply with our policies regarding AI-generated content.

Review and Enforcement

As AI technology continues to evolve, identifying AI-generated content is becoming increasingly challenging. We make every effort to review the work we publish and the materials we use, but we recognize that no review process is perfect.

If concerns are raised regarding a manuscript, artwork, or promotional image, we will review the matter in good faith and take appropriate action when warranted. This may include removing content, requesting clarification, conducting further review, or ending relationships with contributors who violate our policies.
